Finding Success Through Adversity with Chloe White

Chloe White of Farmington, Connecticut got her real estate license in 2005. Since that time, she’s established a small team and found success in real estate. However, it wasn’t without her share of adversity.

In fact, you might say she’s faced more than her fair share of difficulties.

Chloe and her then-husband went all-in on real estate investing from early ages. They bought multiple investment properties along the way. Then, she found herself $40,000 deep into credit card debt, charging everything on her card from groceries to gas.

She recognized that she was her own greatest asset at this time. This meant she had to invest in herself to succeed. She started enrolling in courses and trainings to do just that. For example, she enrolled in Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. Following the advice she learned, it took Chloe three years to pay off all the credit card debt and subsequently create an emergency fund. She also learned how important having the right mindset was in order to experience continual growth. But she’s a learning-based individual, so she was committed to just that.

During this same stretch of time, Chloe’s marriage began struggling. Through therapy, she recognized that her then-husband had an alcohol addiction and her own relationship with alcohol wasn’t healthy. As a mom to a 4-year-old and baby, she decided to file for divorce. However, they were private people and kept the goings-on in their personal lives private. Despite the difficulties they were going through, Chloe showed up fully for work every day and did the things she needed to do to succeed. But it wasn’t easy.

A few months after she filed for divorce and just two weeks shy of her daughter’s first birthday, her estranged husband died in a car crash. Experiencing addiction, divorce or death is challenging enough. Chloe experienced all three of these things at the same time.

But through both trauma and drama – she was able to make a reset in her world. How did she get through it to flourish on the other side? Through getting her mindset in order.

Chloe decided that every decision she makes along the way in life can either help her or hurt her. So, she was determined to make the decisions to put her in the best position for success. After all, just because she’s committed to making these positive decisions doesn’t mean it’s always easy. She started ended each day in a way that would help her make the choices she wanted to make the following day. And she was consistent with these decisions.

Some systems Chloe began instilling in her day-to-day life:

· Got an accountability partner to communicate with every morning at 5am to ensure they both got out of bed.

· Began using Mel Robbins’ 5-4-3-2-1 Rule to make the decision to physically move and get out of bed each day.

· Broke down the things she wanted to accomplish into such easy steps that she couldn’t avoid them. For example:

  • Began journaling using books with prompts to make it simple and easy.
  • Decreased the time she was requiring of herself to work out.
  • Started meditating for one minute a day.
  • Set a singular goal of not drinking alcohol for one day at a time.

Along the way, Chloe recognized that these systems worked for her personal life and she began attacking her business with the same type of systematization. Everything she does more than once in her day-to-day business has a checklist or a system. And she can judge how successful her day has been by how many items she checks off her daily checklist.

Chloe also realized that the more balanced she feels and the happier she is, the more business is attracted to her. Her advice to anyone going through adversity of their own? Don’t give up. Remember, every day is a fresh start. While every day may not be perfect, when you show up for yourself with a positive mindset, you too can overcome adversity and achieve happiness and success.
